The 66th Annual Watermelon Festival in Hampton County is South Carolina's oldest continuing festival! Nine days of events, June 14th -22nd, are in the planning process by an all volunteer committee.

Welcoming Home our Military Heroes: The local troops of the SC National Guard 163rd Support Battalion will return home in late May 2008 after serving almost a year in Afghanistan. The festival theme is a great way to honor them so soon after they return.

"Welcoming Home Our Military Heroes"

An all volunteer committee is busy planning the 66th Annual Hampton County Watermelon Festival. The theme for the 2008 great event is Welcoming Home Our Military Heroes.   Local troops of the SC National Guard 163rd Support Battalion will be returning home in May from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.  Serving on foreign soil for almost a year, it is an honor to dedicate this 66th Festival to the troops for their military service to our country.
Due to the renovation of the Hampton County Courthouse, preparation is now in progress to select new locations for events previously held on the courthouse grounds.   Additional details are listed below.
